in the mid 50s. After graduating from Warner Robins High School,
Carroll received his commercial radio license and then attended Mt.
Berry College for two years before being invited by the Houston County
draft board to join the Armed Forces. While pursuing his education at
Berry He worked part time as a radio station engineer at WLAQ in Rome
Georgia and at WMAZ in Macon Georgia during the summers. Carroll did a
tour of duty in the Army Security Agency (1963-1967) as an Electronic
Warfare Specialist and was stationed in Japan. Carroll left the Army
and returned to Warner Robins Georgia in 1967. He was employed at
Robins AFB in the base metrology laboratory. He also worked part time
as the radio station engineer at WRBN radio. In 1972 Carroll returned
to Japan to work on an Air force Missile Defense system, and in 1974
he transferred to an Air Force Unit attached to the Embassy in Manila
Philippines. There he operated and maintained communications between
the Embassy and the Defense Communication Service.
After
the Philippines he worked as an Aircraft Avionics Equipment Specialist
at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. In December 1980 Carroll moved to the 1st
Signal Brigade in Seoul Korea where as Chief of the Plans and Projects
Branch he was responsible for the planning, engineering and
installation of all Army communication systems on the Korean
peninsula. Carroll returned to the intelligence community as a systems
project officer (pacific) in June 2000 and currently lives in
Woodbridge Virginia 20 miles south of Washington D.C.
Carroll
met his wife Kyung -Im (Kim) in Korea. They were married in 1998.
He
has two children by a previous marriage. His son David graduated from
the University of Georgia and works at Delta Airlines in Atlanta
Georgia.
His
daughter Christine graduated from the University of California and
works in the music business in Hollywood California.
