Jimmy
Rousey
Jimmy
and Tanzel are still best friends, sweethearts, and the love of each
other’s life after 49 years of marriage. They were married right out
of high school (as very young children) in August of 1960 and have
raised each other since that time. They say they think it is gonna
last. They admit that it takes both of them to function: one to
remember who they are, the other to remember where they are going.
The
Rouseys have two grown children, Jamey and DeAnn, and one toy poodle
from purgatory - Sugarbear. They have also recently been blessed with
a granddaughter just born to DeAnn in April of this year (2009). She
is the most beautiful and best dressed grandchild who is being spoiled
from afar (lives all the way up in Gloucester, MA ~ might as well be
China!)
Jimmy
has been retired since 2000 from 25 years of grocery management for
Piggly Wiggly Southern and 12 years from garden center management as
owner and operator of four Macon Feed & Seed stores. He now is
Tanzel’s house-husband, yard and pool man, and does commercial and
residential landscape consultation on the side. The Rouseys are
members of Gilead (Independent Funny-Mental) Baptist Church, where
Tanzel was the pastor’s personal secretary, financial secretary and
church clerk, for over 25 years before retiring last year. Jimmy is
chairman of the deacons, head of the missions committee, captain of
the ushers, and teacher of the senior adults Sunday School class (a
full-time job in itself ~ Jimmy says he doesn’t know how he ever had
time to work).
Jimmy
is an avid reader and Tanzel is a free-lance writer and has
self-published five books. She is also moderator of the Christian
author’s website of Heavenly
Daze. They both love to travel and have
visited many foreign countries including England, Wales, Scotland,
France, Holland, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Puerto
Rico and the British West Indies. In another life they would like to
be bona-fide (that means to get paid for it) tour directors.
Jimmy
and Tanzel are avid collectors of David Winter Cottages and Harbour
Lights Lighthouses. In addition to writing, reading, traveling, and
collecting, their most favorite past-time is just enjoying their home
of Lake Tobesofkee in Macon, Georgia, gardening, boating, jet-skiing,
and sharing God’s wonderful evening sunsets with each other. The
verses they claim for their lives are Romans 8:38-39: “For I am
persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.”
