Warren Davis

After graduating from WRHS, Warren attended Middle Georgia College for two years in Pre-dental and Business Administration. His roommates in college were George Lumpkin and Ted “Tastee” Jamieson. After completing the two years at MGC, Warren married Rose Mary Hancock in 1963. Warren took a position with Peat, Marwick and Mitchell, CPA’s for two years as a Field Auditor and went to night school at Georgia State College in Atlanta. During that period, a son, Warren, Jr. came kicking and screaming into their lives. Warren took a position with a local Truck Mounted Hydraulic Equipment business in College Park, Georgia as Chief Accountant. In 1967, he was transferred to the Home Office in Grandview, Missouri as National Credit Manager for the Corporation and while there, attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City to receive his degree in Business Administration. In 1969, he was promoted to Vice President and Comptroller of the company. Pictured to the right is Warren's beautiful daughter, Eva. In 1971, the opportunity presented itself for Warren to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning his own business. He moved to Harrisonville, MO and opened a dealership with the company covering Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa and built it to a profitable concern in three years. Warren attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. He obtained a private pilot’s license in single engine-land aircraft and purchased a Mooney Statesman (a single-engine aircraft) which became his “Addictive toy”. Warren and Rose busied themselves with bringing two more children into the world. Thus, appeared their youngest son, Ian Wendell and their daughter, Eva Lesley. In 1979, the family moved back to Georgia because of parental illnesses on both sides of the family. Rose’s Father was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Simultaneously, Warren's Father was diagnosed with kidney cancer. In 1980, Warren became a real estate developer and contractor in building custom homes in a tri-county area, building homes, condominiums and apartments for the next fifteen years in and around Carrollton, Georgia. He worked closely with Jimmy Carter on many projects for “Habitat for Humanity” and served on the Board for this worthwhile operation for many years. In 1996, Warren lost Rose and decided to retire from everything. The “retirement” opportunity allowed him to travel extensively to Africa, Canada, Aruba, in the Caribbean, Alaska, and NewFoundland. In 1998, Warren moved to the Phoenix, AZ. area where he came out of retirement to take a position with the State of Arizona-ASPC-Perryville Complex as the Physical Plant Director. This complex is the sole Female Penal Institution in Arizona housing 3,300 inmates. Warren realized what a challenge he had undertaken accommodating policy requirements for such a vast Complex. The facility now has a myriad of programs, such as “Habitat for Humanity, Swift Transportation Truck repairs, Agricultural Harvesting, Auto Detailing, etc. to assist inmates in preparing for a return to a productive life in society. Warren is actively involved in education and "hands on" experience for the inmates. He now lives, according to him, a sort of “FREE SPIRIT” lifestyle with no external pressures governing his daily activities. He says he has never forgotten his past and 1960 Classmates. "It just seems like yesterday! Where did the time go? George, Tastee, Marty, Honey Ginny, Franny, Dottie---Peace to you all. I hope to see you at the next get-together."
