Ray Baggett
From Ray:
Born in Griffin, GA and raised in
Georgia. On graduation from WRHS, Lois Bailey, Journalism/Drama,
offered me a small journalism scholarship to UGA. I declined,
determined to join the military and see the world. I have seen much of
it. I studied the Russian language at Syracuse University (for the
USAF), and the German language while living in West Berlin, Germany
(1964-67) during the era of the "WALL", which is, in and of
itself, another story. In 1967, UGA accepted me as a junior due to the
many language hours I had accumulated, and on Graduation in 1970 as a
business major, I was employed by Wrangler Jeans. I found a new career
in Insurance and Financial Services, owning my own agency in Benton,
AR, a small town just south of Little Rock, for the past 14 years. My
daughter Lisa Gatewood resides in Tulsa, OK, with her husband Todd
and is a teacher of Braille to handicapped children in a Tulsa middle
school. My granddaughter Niki attends a private college in Broken
Arrow, OK and my grandson Sam, 15, is an aspiring rock and roll
drummer and has formed a band with 3 of his friends. Sam's band
recently competed in competitions held in Houston, TX.
